No Irie Jamboree for 2010

I was very disappointed to learn that there will be no irie jamboree 2010. (Irie Jamboree is a premier reggae out door reggae festival held in Queens NY on Labour Day Sunday.

However as an upcoming promotor, producer and music/entertainment executive I do understand the five points ( The Recession, Artist visa cancellation/incarceration, Visa, The 8: p.m. Shutdown and The overall climate in the Industry)why this is happening.
The reggae industry needs a complete over haul, with new blood and quality talent to bring it back to its hay days. As for artist incarceration, these artist must learn to behave themselves and be upward citizens and proper role models, hence there will be no visa cancellations.
All the best to the Irie-Jam family for 2011 I look forward to attend.

Last Sunday, July 11, 2010 Reggae music and the world lost one of its pioneers and foundation members. Born Lincoln Barrington Minott, aka Sugar Minott, veteran singer, musician, songwriter and producer died in Kingston, Jamaican. Reports are that Sugar Minott died from a heart attack. This is a great lost to music and in particular Reggae music.
His many hits include “Herbman Hustling” “Oh Mr. DC” and No Vacancy, just to mention a few.
